Gu Shoucheng is a pastor in a house church in China. He has believed in the Lord for many years, and has been working consistently on his sermons, and he has been all over preaching the gospel. However, when Almighty God's gospel of the kingdom came upon the church that Gu Shoucheng belongs to, he doesn't seek or investigate it at all, but stubbornly relies upon his own notions and conceptions to condemn God's work in the last days, and he does everything he can to disseminate notions and fallacies to disrupt and block believers from accepting the true way. It was particularly after reading the words of Almighty God that Gu Shoucheng discovered that they truly possessed authority and power and that whoever heard them would be convinced, and he became deeply afraid that anyone in the church who read the words of Almighty God would become a believer in Him. He feared that then his status and his living would become unsustainable. So, he discussed this with Elder Wang Sen and others in the church and decided to deceive people with rumors used by the Chinese Communist government attacking and condemning Almighty God. Gu Shoucheng and Wang Sen do their utmost to seal up the church and block the people from accepting the true way, and they even cooperate with the CCP satanic regime to arrest and persecute those who bear witness to Almighty God. Their actions seriously offend God's disposition and are subject to His curse. As Wang Sen is on his way to arrest some people who are spreading the gospel of the kingdom, he gets into a car accident and dies at the scene. Gu Shoucheng is living in fear and desperation and is seized with panic. He frequently says to himself: "Is my condemnation of Almighty God nailing God to the cross again?"

I was born in a poor, backward part of the countryside and lived a hard, impoverished life as a child. In order to achieve a better life as soon as possible, after I got married, I began to work like crazy. I ended up, however, getting sick from overwork, and I went from being fit and healthy to being wracked with illnesses. As I read God’s words more and more, I came to understand some truths and I came to a thorough understanding of many things in the world. My pained, stifled spirit felt liberated, and I gradually recovered from my illnesses. My gratitude to God knew no bounds, and I began to actively preach the gospel and bear witness to God’s work of the last days.

My mother passed away when I was a little girl, and so I had to bear the heavy burden of household responsibilities from a young age. After I got married, my responsibilities became so burdensome that I could barely breathe under their weight. Especially since I knew that we’re in the last days and that the Lord would soon return to take us all into our heavenly home, I worked and expended myself that much more proactively.

July 21, 2012 was a most unforgettable day for me, as well as the most important day of my life.

That day, a heavy rain was falling in Fangshan District in Beijing—the heaviest we had seen there in sixty-one years. A little after 4:00 p.m., I walked out onto the street to have a look and saw that water was everywhere. Our family car was already afloat, and the only reason it had not been carried away by the current yet was that something in front of it was blocking it from moving. The sight made me quite anxious, so I quickly called my husband, who is also a believer, but could not get through no matter how many times I tried. Then, rather than seek God’s will, I instead hurried home to call out for him.

I wish you peace in the Lord! Not infrequently, all sorts of spiritual warfare will occur throughout our time of faith in and following God. There are temptations regarding money, status and name, and temptations between men and women, as well as slander by unbelievers, obstruction and suppression from loved ones, as well as being hunted down and persecuted by a satanic regime. Sometimes completely unexpected calamities befall us. The Bible says: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). God’s words say: “On earth, all manner of evil spirits are endlessly on the prowl for a place to rest, are ceaselessly searching for the corpses of men to eat up” (“The Tenth Utterance” of God’s Utterances to the Entire Universe in The Word Appears in the Flesh). There isn’t a single moment that Satan is not by our side, racking its brains to use any person, event, or thing to tempt, test, and persecute us, trying to get us to sink into evil, into disaster and to distance ourselves from God, to betray Him so that in the end we may be swallowed whole by it. If we lack the truth, we also lack discernment; if we cannot clearly see spiritual warfare, if we cannot remain firm in God’s words, we will be likely to go after fleshly benefits and preferences, falling into Satan’s web and losing our testimony. As Christians, learning how to recognize Satan’s trickery is critical. So what can we do to enable ourselves to see through Satan’s trickery in the midst of spiritual warfare and stand witness for God? I’d like to share some fellowship with you on three paths of practice for triumphing over Satan’s temptations.
